Kim J. Gillan is a Democratic Party member of the Montana Senate, representing District 24 since 2004. Earlier she was a member of the Montana House of Representatives from 1996 through 2004. On June 21, 2011, she announced that she will be a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for the open seat in Montana's At-large congressional district that is available in the 2012 election due to incumbent Denny Rehberg's decision to run against U.S. Senator Jon Tester.[1]
